Dictador Black Edition is a limited art rum built from 2003 and 2005 vintage stocks. The matte-black bottle is hand-painted, marked with a glossy Dictador inscription and limited to 1,000 hand-numbered pieces; the spirit is bottled at 40% volume. AGEING: the 2003 and 2005 components mature in oak under Colombia’s warm Caribbean climate, where extraction develops quickly. The blend is built for roundness and balance, avoiding the dry, tannic edge that can dominate older tropical stocks. SUGGESTIONS: serve neat at room temperature when the bottle is opened for a small group, or make a short Rum Old Fashioned with cane syrup, a dash or two of The Bitter Truth Old Time Aromatic Bitters and orange zest.

Dictador traces its roots to Destilería Colombiana, established in Cartagena in 1913. Its name refers to Severo Arango y Ferro, an 18th-century Spanish official in Nueva Granada who became linked to the city’s rum trade. The house style is built around cane-honey distillate rather than molasses, giving the producer a distinct Cartagena identity.
