The Pearls' site is located on the windward east coast on fertile agricultural land along the north side of the Simon River. The site is about a quarter of a mile inland from the Atlantic Ocean.
This fascinating terroir is set amidst mangroves and floodplains of the coastal plain, just a few miles south of the distillery, and rests on a distinctive ferruginous volcanic laterite rock. On this water-retaining soil, derived from the clay soils of Woburn and Perseverance, sugar cane crops thrive. The elegant "Yellow Lady" variety was grown for this rum on the "Grapefruit" Estate, which lies on land known as the "Flats".
