How does the ex-Laphroaig Quarter Cask influence the flavour? There is a subtle, delicate smoke, present and integrated rather than dominant.
The peat intensity is lower: after the cask has been used, much of the heavy phenolic punch is already reduced, so the impact is more restrained than in a first-fill, peated-malt release.
Independent bottler Chapter 7 presents the first sherry cask-aged single-grain whisky in the Monologue series. North British was distilled in December 1991, matured for 30 years in a single cask# 86375 & bottled in Scotland in October 2022.

The first bottling from North British Distillery, an exceptional single cask, single grain scotch whisky matured for 58 years in a Hogshead cask, bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.6%, free of colouring or chill-filtration. V
Very limited only 222 bottles were released and they are part of the Incorporation Edition. Each bottle is presented in a handmade oak box, carefully crafted to reflect the quality, rarity and age of the whisky. Included is a stitched booklet, hand-signed and individually numbered by Alan Kilpatrick, the distillery’s Managing Director.
A unique spirit blended from 60% Glen Garioch malt and 40% North British grain, a piece of history that encompasses the mastery of men of the past that addressed the creation of a whisky not influenced by market dynamics, but exclusively devoted to the pursuit of quality without compromise.
