The Bunnahabhain distillery dates back to 1881. Located on the northeast coast of the isle of Islay, where the soil is formed almost entirely of peat, which, used during the malt drying process, gives an unmistakable taste of smoke and seaweed. The distillery is the only one on the island to use pure spring water drawn from the Margadale River. The pure water contributes towards the light signature taste profile of Bunnahabhain. The malt whiskies produced by the Bunnahabhain are smooth, almost winey whiskies, slightly peated with impressive consistency and regularity.
