This Lowland single malt whisky was distilled during Daftmill’s summer production on July 27, 2009, and matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel before being bottled in 2021. Handpicked by Charles Hofer SA and exclusively bottled for the Swiss market. This 12-year-old whisky was drawn from cask #040/2009 and comes in a limited edition of only 230 bottles.
Daftmill is a farm-based distillery owned and run by the Cuthbert family. It operates only during the farm’s quieter seasons—midsummer and winter—sometimes producing as few as 100 casks annually. For the rest of the year, Francis Cuthbert manages the estate, cultivating the malting barley that goes into this Lowland whisky. The Optic barley for this release was grown in the southern fields and harvested in late August 2006, then stored on the farm before being malted in Alloa in the summer of 2007.
