Ledaig 1972 Dùsgadh 2014 Release 42 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 70cl bottle - 45% Vol

Ledaig has created a unique, very rare, 42 year old single malt with an impressive history.

This 1972 whisky is the first Ledaig single malt whisky to be distilled and is the oldest and rarest Ledaig single malt whisky ever released.

Only 500 examples of Ledaig 42 year old are available worldwide and the next 40 examples of Ledaig single malt will be bottled in 2036. This release is presented in a wooden box decorated with a copper card taken from the old stills that produced the very spirit within the bottle.

Tasting notes

Color

Shines in a coppery golden hue

Aroma

On the nose, there is an overwhelming scent of sherry as well as red fruits and dates wrapped in bacon. The delicate smoky note to describe is dense and delicate at the same time. There are sugar-roasted hazelnuts and almonds to be discovered.

Taste

Full and fruity in the first place. Sweet and heavy, the whisky spreads in the mouth. First mix plum jam with honey. Then after some time fresh hazelnuts come, which are soon replaced by the clear tobacco note. Only late does the delicate note of smoke

Finish

Long, fruity, leathery and very soft smoky.

About the Distillery

The Ledaig Distillery - today known as Tobermory Distillery is located on the Island of Mull and dates back to 1798. Malt Whisky production in the distillery is split in half between the Tobermory and Ledaig single malts, each malt reflects the inspiring Island of Mull – from the bright and colorful Tobermory with vibrant fruit, spice and subtle salty notes, reflective of harbor waters, to the more robust, peated Ledaig with sweet smoke and earthy notes.
