Tasting notes
A robust, mineral and dynamic bouquet on the nose. A clear character and an iron temperament. Flavours of pear, nougat and oak.
On the palate, the first impression is metallic. In contrast to its very straightforward bouquet, lovely notes of pear and tropical fruit emerge, followed by honeyed oak, vanilla cream and pepper
The finish expands in width and length, with a lingering dusty hold of leather, orange blossom and toasted oak notes.
The Glenallachie distillery was established by Mackinlay's in 1967 in order to meet the demand for their blends. During its short history, the distillery changed owners and passed through the hands of Invergordon Distillers and Pernod-Ricard.During this period, the focus was always on providing blends. Now it is in the hands of Billy Walker and has been pushed as a single malt brand since 2017. Before that time, it was only possible to taste Glenallachie through sought-after independent bottlings like this one.
