A whisky with a distinctly maritime character, the first-ever bottling to have been aged in Caribbean rum casks. This edition brings out the marine notes and peppery spiciness of the Isle of Skye. Talisker 8 has the rich, dark and exotic profile of warmer climates. A drop of water softens the taste, enhances the aromas and reduces the sweet notes while bringing a hint of smoke.
Tasting notes
Golden, with greenish lights.
Smooth and maritime. Hints of molasses, crystal sugar in competition with dry seaweed, crystal salt and iodine. Smoky with notes of charred meat.
A soft and smooth texture and an exquisite taste. Salty and in particular slightly sweet, before the Talisker pepper starts to develop.
Long, hotly peppery and drying, finishing sweet and smoky with the typical Talisker chilli-pepper "catch".
Founded in 1830, Talisker was the first licensed distillery on Skye and is the oldest still operating on the island. Talisker is famous for its full-bodied, rich character and strong-peppery whiskies. Their complex single malts carry the taste of the sea within, evoking the oyster beds in the clear waters from the island's West coast.
