A limited-edition and a true collectors treasure... Tomatin was distilled in 1971, aged for 50 years in a single 1st fill oloroso sherry hogshead No. 30040 before being bottled in 2022 with a yield of just 125 bottles. Gentle maturation in the cool, stable environment found high above sea level lets the subtle character of this distinctive 50 year old single malt emerge. The use of a carefully selected cask ensures that the softer characters of the precious spirit are never overpowered. Each bottle of this stunning whisky is presented in a mouth-blown Glencairn crystal decanter with a gold-plated brass stopper. The packaging is an impressive wooden box made in Italy and covered in soft Italian leather. A numbered book, hand-signed by distillery manager Graham Eunson, with detailed information about the history and creation of this single malt is also included. Finally, a premium leather carry bag completes the presentation.
Tasting notes
The bouquet is characterised by fresh oak aromas, sweet apples, plums and pears. Warming spices are quickly replaced by manuka honey and exotic fruits and dried apricots. The lingering, velvety finish is reminiscent of vanilla, toffee and sultanas.
