A superb and rare malt from the closed distillery Convalmore in Dufftown, Speyside. This is the fourth release of a series of whiskeys from the distiller’s stock. Bottled at natural cask strength from refilled American oak hogshead barrels, filled in 1984. Limited edition from Diageo Special Releases annual collection, only 3972 bottles worldwide.
Tasting notes
Intense gold color with very viscous legs.
Sweet like a buttery pastry case. Sour apples and cinnamon. A drop of water introduces a waxy note and suppresses the fruity elements.
Light to medium bodied. Smooth textured. Sweet and fruity, with a trace of crisp acidity and oak spice. A splash of water reveals great complexity the taste becomes slightly sweeter and floral notes appear followed by charred oak and licorice.
Warming, spicy with lingering bitter-sweet flavors.
