This 110 Proof expression is bottled at 55% volume, a higher strength than the standard Sherry Oak release. Its deep amber colour is natural. MATURATION: The whisky matures for twelve years exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak casks, predominantly European oak. SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass, with water alongside. Add a few drops at a time to adjust the strength.

The Macallan distillery stands on the Easter Elchies estate near Craigellachie, beside the River Spey. Alexander Reid obtained its first licence in 1824. Sherry-seasoned oak casks remain central to the distillery's whisky production as well as their curiously small stills.
