The Carthusian monks received the manuscript behind their liqueur tradition in 1605. The yellow formula was developed in 1838 and sold as Chartreuse Jaune from 1840. Production moved to Aiguenoire, at Entre-Deux-Guiers, in 2018. The historic cellars at Voiron remain associated with ageing and visits.
