A great example of a great Irish whiskey. Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in copper pot stills. Redbreast 15 Year Old was originally created in 2005 as a limited edition, due to its success, it is now part of the fine range of whiskeys. Aged in a combination of Spanish Oloroso sherry cask and American Bourbon whiskey barrels. Non-Chill Filtered. Produced by the Midleton distillery and bottled by Irish Distillers. 94 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
Tasting notes
Straw-yellow
Rich bouquet of dried fruit.
Fully round and mellow, with sweet notes of raisins, vanilla and figs. Loads of spices and toasted wood.
Long and pleasant.
Redbreast remains the pioneer of the Irish single pot still. Based on malted and unmalted barley, their whiskies reveal an intriguing complexity. Distillation takes place in three different stills then the whiskey is aged in old sherry and bourbon casks. Today, Redbreast is made at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork (alongside other great Powers, Green Spot and Jameson whiskies). Redbreast represents the very finest in Irish whiskey.
