Tasting notes
Dark amber
A bourbon matured in both brick and wood rickhouses. The rather mild and above all constant temperatures of the stone warehouse give the Bourbon a particularly mild and earthy note. The palate is silky with notes of caramel and vanilla.
The storage in the wood barrel with the usual temperature fluctuations allowed the whiskey to interact deeper with the barrel. Notes of tobacco, oak and toffee.
The finish is sweet and spicy.
The distillery was founded in 1869 by Irish brothers James and John Ripy, who named it the Ripy Distillery. In 1940, Thomas McCarthy an Austin Nichols’ executive, offered a drop of their Bourbon to some friends, while they were out hunting wild turkey, and that's how the distillery got its new name.Today Jimmy and Eddie Russell are the father-son Master Distilling team, responsible for crafting Wild Turkey Bourbon. Jimmy Russell has over 60 years of experience and has become a legend in the Bourbon industry, he transformed the brand and made it one of the best selling Bourbons around the world.
