The bourbon must be the product of one distilling season from one distillery, aged in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at 100 proof to receive the related label.

The distillery was founded in 1869 by Irish brothers James and John Ripy, who named it the Ripy Distillery. In 1940, Thomas McCarthy an Austin Nichols’ executive, offered a drop of their Bourbon to some friends, while they were out hunting wild turkey, and that's how the distillery got its new name.Today Jimmy and Eddie Russell are the father-son Master Distilling team, responsible for crafting Wild Turkey Bourbon.
