Kirin Fuji Sanroku 18 Years Old is the sole single malt bottled under the distilleries Sanroku label: the only portion of Gotemba Distillery's malt production not destined for blending. The combination of Gotemba's exceptional malt quality, the rarity of this expression, and the 18-year ageing makes this one of the most sought-after expressions in Japanese whisky. MATURATION: Matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 43% volume. Only 4000 bottles were produced. SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature, then try a little still water if you prefer a lighter strength. Keep any accompaniment simple: plain shortbread or unsalted almonds, rather than strongly spiced food that would dominate the whisky.
Tasting notes
Bright, limpid and elegant gold.
Nose of cereal, pineapple and green melon, threaded with fresh mineral notes. Fruity with the elegance of well-matured barley.
Soft, silken texture revealing a fine complexity: cereal, strawberry, blackcurrant and orgeat syrup wrapped in a delicate smoky note.
A long, aromatic finish fades gradually, leaving a delicate bitter note.
