The first of The Balvenie Cask finish series exploring French Oak. A single malt aged sixteen years in American Oak and finished in casks that previously held wine from the French Charentes vineyards. Pineau des Charentes is a fortified wine made by adding unfermented grape juice or must to Cognac. The process prevents the grape juice from fermenting and creates a delicate flavour profile.
Tasting notes
The first maturation brings ample notes of vanilla, spice and warm honey while the second maturation brings light floral notes of lotus and geranium followed by hints of apple and fresh meadow grass.
