The sixth release in Glenmorangie’s Bond House No. 1 Collection. The series celebrates Glenmorangie's most prestigious aged whiskies with particularly delicious results. An annual limited release of vintage single malt whiskies. Glenmorangie Gran Vintage 1996, entirely matured in First Filled-Bourbon casks for 23 years. The custom-designed casks were crafted from American white oaks found in the forest of Missouri’s Ozark Mountains. The casks were then heavily toasted, lightly charred to augment their natural wood notes and seasoned with bourbon for four years.
Tasting notes
Bright gold
Fresh, floral with a herbal hint. Luscious mandarin and pear follow, with beautiful candy sweetness, reminiscent of mixed fruit jellies. A splash of water releases even more floral notes of carnation and geranium, along with some soft, buttery vanilla.
A zesty, citrus mouthfeel leads into a powerful burst of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, kept under control by the thread of soft, sweet vanilla and fudge. The finesse for a whisky of this age is quite remarkable, with gentle spices, such as ginger and sweet chilli and subtle oaky notes.
Delicate notes of almonds, pear and cake mix.
