A rare whisky distilled in 1968 and a great example of Port Askaig's old Islay style, almost completely lost today. Unpeated, fruit-driven with abundant tropical fruits such as mangoes and papayas. Despite this whisky's origins in Islay, the long ageing has allowed the smokiness of the spirit to fade and develop into something quite special.
Tasting notes
Notes of tropical and orchard fruits.
Navel-orange bittersweetness, fleshy mangos and warming spice. With that is a contrasting herbal character: green tea and mint leaves. The gentle acidity of the fruit is balanced by sweet and sticky notes of honey.
