William Grant founded Balvenie in Dufftown in 1892. The Speyside distillery remains within William Grant & Sons, with floor maltings, a cooperage and a coppersmith forming part of its working crafts. The Tun 1509 series began in 2014, following Tun 1401, and drew on casks selected by David Stewart for marrying at the distillery.
