Three barrels were opened on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Kininvie distillery, which were bottled on the day of the opening of the distillery on July 4, 1990. With these precious drops, the long-awaited Special Release # 1 was created. A single malt whisky, aged in Bourbon cask for 25 years, bottled at cask strength in small quantities. The director of the distillery explains: "Kininvie is a hidden jewel. We have cherished the barrels for 25 years and maintained them, knowing that they contain an incomparable whiskey. Now the time has come to reveal the first drops of our history right from the barrel, where they have been ripening since the first days of the distillation. "Each of the three barrels of Special Release # 1 has a unique taste profile and is an exceptional rarity”
Tasting notes
Aromatic with fresh, green character. Traces of flowers and spring pasture.
Rich with notes of sweet of roasted oakwood, fresh vanilla, caramelized fruit and candied orange peel.
Long and warming.
As early as the end of the 1980s, the company assumed that global demand for Scotch whiskey would continue to rise, and took the unusual step of building a new distillery and producing a new malt for the lovers of blended whiskey. Since then, the Kininvie Distillery has always produced high-quality whiskeys. In the past 23 years, the distillery has concentrated exclusively on the blending of whiskeys. It was only in 2013 that it introduced a limited edition of a single malt exclusively for Taiwan for the first time.
