Tasting notes
Light gold, very pale straw, good pearling
Mild overall, with light prickle. The top notes are ashy followed by hints of linseed oil, gradually fruity notes of hard candy and crisp sea air emerge. With water, the aromas reduce and the more pungent, smoky notes come slightly forward.
Soft and smooth texture, sweeter than expected with a bit of water, the softness is reinforced, delicious notes of lemon sorbet and burnt caramel emerge. It is a fresh and crunchy Lagavulin that dries lightly in the mouth with superb mineral notes.
Long, warming with a peaty aftertaste, though a touch of water makes it sweeter.
Lagavulin is a classic Islay malt of majestic size with a history of more than two hundred years. The distillery stands in a rocky bay, in the crowning centre rising the ruins of the castle of the noble family that reigned over the island of Islay long ago. Today Lagavulin itself is the unchallenged master of the island.
