G.Rozelieures releases a limited edition whisky matured in Vosne Romanée casks. These barrels had housed some of the best red wines of Burgundy and bring a floral note into the peatiness of the whisky. An impressive single malt with an explosive palette of aromas, double distilled and peated at 45 ppm. For this edition, only 384 bottles were released and each has been numbered by hand.
Tasting notes
Gold
Fresh, floral and peaty. Light smoky notes open up with citrus and fruity aromas. Mineral aromas emerge, after adding a drop of water keeping the floral bouquet in perfect balance
The texture is thicker than the nose suggests. White chocolate and peat give way to red fruits and a slight salinity complete the rich palette.
A long finish with a slightly peppery and nutty taste.
The Grallet-Dupic Distillery dates back to 1877 when Amable and Ophélie Grallet established a cereal farm. Today, the distillery is still run by the same family. For its peaty malts, the distillery uses locally grown barley. Their whiskies are double distilled in Charentais pot stills and matured in casks from all over the world. Their creations are inspired by the natural beauty of the Lorraine region's nature, where conditions for the production of whisky are ideal. From harvest to bottling, the whole process is made in-house under the family's care and supervision.
