The first bottling from the special release of Kaiyo's cask finish series. The Rubi is made from 100% malted barley, matured for seven years in Mizunara oak barrels in Japan. After the first maturation, the barrels go to sea for three months, then sent back to Japan to be finished for four months in ex-ruby port pipes and bottled at 46% ABV.
Tasting notes
Slightly smoky with hints of black tea and berries.
Candied orange and toasted marshmallow, followed by notes of sandalwood and mango.
Long finish with a dense viscosity and hints of dark chocolate and peppermint.
