Usually, Blair Athol casks are destined for blending in ex-bourbon barrels. For this release Chapter 7 made an exception and aged the whisky in a wine cask. The cask is likely a 2nd or 3rd fill, resulting in a complex dram rather than a dominant one. Blair Athol is part of the Monologue range of single cask, single malt Scotch whiskies, where no two casks are the same. Monologue whisky is a unique expression. It tells the story of the distillery that produced the whisky and the cask where it matured. The Blair Athol distillery was built-in 1798, in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, where an ancient source of water – the Allt Dour – flows through the grounds contributing to the whisky’s, mellow character and smooth finish. Distilled in October 2009, bottled in December 2021 at cask strength 53 % abv. Single Cask #306651 All-natural colour, non-chill-filtered. Limited edition of 258 bottles.
