Made from 100% Merlot grapes, grown in Contone and Cugnasco, Ticino. The vineyards located between 220 and 250 metres above sea level are planted in rows according to the 'Guyot' method, the average age of the vines is 30 years. During the growing season, the vines benefit from a very long period of sunshine. In summer from the warm twilight sun and the evening breeze from Lake Maggiore. Stella is matured for twelve months, 60% in old oak barriques and 40 in new oak barriques. Before its release, the bottled wine is kept in the warehouse at a constant temperature for a year or more. This wine is unfiltered, therefore some sediment might be present.
Tasting notes
Ruby red with garnet reflections, clear and consistent.
Intense, very complex with scents of wild berries, blueberry, toast, sweet spices, chocolate, tobacco and light eucalyptus notes.
Harmonious and balanced. Dry, warm and soft with velvety tannins, fresh and juicy. This wine pairs well with red meat, game and mature cheeses
Persistent, with body and a pleasant aftertaste of toasted almonds and red fruits with very good ageing potential.
