Green Velvet Original 1898 is the verte expression, the green absinthe, bottled at 53% volume from the original family recipe that gave the brand its identity. The colour is fully natural, drawn from a secondary herbal infusion after distillation rather than from added colourings.
BOTANICALS: grande wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), green anise, fennel, lemon balm and a selection of proprietary Jura botanicals, all macerated in alcohol, then primary-distilled. The natural colour comes from a second short maceration of green herbs after distillation, performed at night to preserve the chlorophyll. The 53% volume sits in the middle of the verte tradition: high enough for proper louche, low enough to read clearly.
SERVING: the louche ritual, sugar cube on a slotted spoon, iced water dripping slowly into the glass until the milky opalescence builds. Serve in a Pontarlier-style absinthe glass with a slow water-to-spirit ratio. Pairs at the table with a strong cheese (Gruyère AOP, Tête de Moine) and walnut bread, dark chocolate, or as a digestif after a Jura meal of Comté and Morteau sausage.
This is the 2024 release of Bowmore 40 Years Old, a limited-edition Islay single malt bottled at 45.1% volume.
MATURATION: The whisky matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature; add still water only a drop at a time, if at all. Aged Comté makes a good savoury match, and a mild to medium-bodied Dominican corona suits it after the meal.
Bowmore 15 Years Old belongs to a collection of four single malts with age statements from 12 to 21 years. It is a separate release from the core-range expression of the same age and is bottled at 43% volume.
MATURATION: The whisky matured in European oak casks that had held Oloroso and in American oak barrels that had held bourbon. It was then finished in European casks seasoned with Oloroso.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip glass, with water alongside to add a drop at a time. Smoked salmon or a mature hard cheese such as aged Gouda makes a good accompaniment. For a cigar, choose a medium-bodied Nicaraguan or Dominican smoke.
Bowmore 18 Years Old is part of a collection of four Islay single malts aged from 12 to 21 years, introduced in 2024. Its black livery pays homage to Black Bowmore, distilled in 1964 and one of the distillery's most celebrated whiskies. It is bottled at 43% volume.
MATURATION: The spirit matured in hand-selected ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks before a finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The finish adds fresh sweetness and bright fruit to the distillery's gentle smoke.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip glass, with still water alongside to add a few drops. At the table, it suits roast venison or game with girolles. For a cigar, choose a medium-bodied Nicaraguan or Dominican robusto.
Bowmore 18 Years Old belongs to the distillery's permanent collection; this is the 2025 release, bottled at 43% volume.
MATURATION: The whisky is drawn from hand-selected casks of two kinds: American oak that previously held bourbon, and European oak that held Oloroso sherry.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip glass, with still water alongside; a few drops open up the aroma. Aged Gouda or a slice of fruit cake makes a good accompaniment. For a cigar pairing, choose a medium-bodied Dominican or Nicaraguan robusto.
Bowmore 15 Years Old is an Islay single malt from the distillery's permanent range, offered here in its 2024 release and bottled at 43% volume.
MATURATION: The whisky matured in American oak casks that had previously held bourbon and in European oak casks that had held Oloroso sherry.
SUGGESTIONS: The smoke is gentle, making this a good introduction for drinkers wary of heavily peated Islay malts. Pour neat into a tulip glass and let it rest for a few minutes before tasting; to soften the strength, add water a drop at a time. Aged Gouda or a medium-bodied Dominican or Nicaraguan cigar pairs well.
Kirin Fuji Sanroku 18 Years Old is the sole single malt bottled under the distilleries Sanroku label: the only portion of Gotemba Distillery's malt production not destined for blending. The combination of Gotemba's exceptional malt quality, the rarity of this expression, and the 18-year ageing makes this one of the most sought-after expressions in Japanese whisky.
MATURATION: Matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 43% volume. Only 4000 bottles were produced.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature, then try a little still water if you prefer a lighter strength. Keep any accompaniment simple: plain shortbread or unsalted almonds, rather than strongly spiced food that would dominate the whisky.
Bowmore 12 Years Old is the youngest whisky in the distillery's Sherry Oak Collection, which also includes 15, 18 and 21-year-old expressions. This Islay single malt is bottled at 40% volume.
MATURATION: The peated spirit matured in hand-selected ex-bourbon and Oloroso casks, then spent a final period in Oloroso casks before bottling.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass. Aged Comté or dark chocolate makes a good companion; for a cigar, choose a mild to medium-bodied Dominican or Nicaraguan robusto.
Bowmore 12 Years Old sits at the heart of the distillery's permanent collection. This is the 2025 release, bottled at 40% volume. Its peat is more moderate than the medicinal intensity of Islay's southern-shore distilleries, making it a natural introduction to the island's peated single malts.
MATURATION: The whisky is matured in hand-selected American oak casks that previously held bourbon, and in European oak casks that held Oloroso sherry.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat in a tulip glass, with still water alongside to add by the drop. Smoked salmon on rye bread or an aged Comté make good companions. With a cigar, choose a mild to medium Dominican robusto.
MATURATION: It matures in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak Oloroso sherry butts, a dual-cask regime that gives the whisky its fruit-driven sweetness alongside Islay's characteristic peat smoke.
SUGGESTIONS: Serve neat or with a splash of water to open the aroma. Pairs well with dark chocolate or a mild blue cheese, and suits a Nicaraguan or Dominican cigar.
The small-batch release was aged in American bourbon and Spanish sherry casks, the combination of the sherry and coastal notes makes it an exquisite, well balanced peated whisky. Matured in the renowned No.1 Vaults - the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland.
